Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated CMT Technician/Inspector to conduct field operations involving sampling, testing, special inspections, and observation using ASTM, DOT, ACI, AWS, and IBC methods and standards. You will assist engineering staff with project execution and management by understanding engineering practices and construction methodologies as indicated by codes and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field operations consisting of sampling, testing, special inspections, and observation utilizing ASTM, DOT, ACI, AWS, and IBC methods and standards.
- Assist engineering staff with project execution and management through an understanding of engineering practice and construction methodologies as indicated by codes and specifications.
- Read and understand construction plans and specifications proficiently.
- Conduct laboratory analysis of construction materials according to specified methods and standards.
- Perform physical activities including walking through uneven difficult terrain, long spans of standing, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Travel up to 50% of the time, primarily within the Southeast region, with 10% outside the state of Alabama.
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction materials testing (CMT).
- Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as walking through uneven terrain, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two-year or four-year college degree in science, construction, or engineering preferred.
- Equivalent work history will be considered.
- Ability to test and achieve required certification following training.
- Current certifications (DOT, ACI, AWS, etc.) or testing laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience in civil engineering or construction.
- Proficiency in report writing, organization, and utilization of technology.
Work Environment
This position involves working outside sampling construction materials and working in the lab testing those materials. Expect to work in varying weather conditions and terrains. The role requires travel up to 50% of the time, with 10% outside the state of Alabama. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
