What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at Actalent?
Actalent Engineering is hiring an Application Engineer (CNC Programmer) in the Decatur, IL!
This department is 99% lathes. 79 lathes (Takasawas, Shimadas, Mori Seikis, and some Okumas) and 1 CNC mill.
This Engineer will need to be able to program, set up and run the new part, then complete the documentation of the new process as part of a 30 piece capability study. Must be able to program at the machine level.
There will be an existing program for each machine but since it's a new alloy they will have to modify speeds and feeds and in some cases depth.
Writing the new g code will be very basic, similar to using Notepad on a laptop, not using a CAM software, then editing g and m codes on the machine.
They need to be able to do this independently. Most programs are simple enough to not need CAM.
Responsibilities
Responsible for improving existing machining process to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity improvements.
Responsible for updating appropriate process documentation to ensure setups, programs, and tooling information is accurate and available for Operations.
Process development and implementation of new product designs.
Active, hands-on participant in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operations issues.
Actively train Operations on new and existing machining processes.
Implements new technology as part of capital projects, maintaining timeline integrity for specific tasks.
Committed to delivering exceptional results.
Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements.
Basic manual programming, selecting cutting tools and part work holding.
