Job Title: Construction Materials Tester / Inspector (CMT)

Job Description

In this position, the engineering technician will be involved with field observation, inspecting, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement. Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers. The candidate should have the knowledge and ability to perform observations, inspections, and tests of construction projects and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices. Following inspections, the individual will be expected to turn in daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify the data collected in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, inspection, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement.
• Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers.
• Document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
• Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify field data.

Essential Skills

• Materials testing
• Inspection
• Quality assurance
• 2 years of recent field experience
• Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial sectors
• ACI certification (preferred)
• Soils experience (required), concrete experience (a plus)
• Clean driving record
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Intermediate level computer skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• DOT experience
• ICC certification (Structural, Concrete Masonry, etc.)
• NICET certification
• TROXLER certification
• QMS certification

Work Environment

The individual will be working in the field nearly 100% of the time. The projects will be within residential subdivision development to confirm soil support for construction, as well as in commercial and industrial sectors.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
