Job Title: Construction Project Manager, Battery Storage
Job Description
Act as the Owner's representative to oversee third-party Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) field electrical installation, including DC systems, power conversion units, medium voltage AC collection systems, safety, SCADA and instrumentation, electrical startup and commissioning. Responsible for oversight of electrical work and startup to ensure compliance within engineering plans, project specifications, quality control adherence, scheduling, and safety goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage electrical scope, including schedules and engineering interface.
- Collaborate with resources and sub-suppliers in various disciplines to determine project priorities, schedules, and work plans to meet milestones.
- Report daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, quality control, and safety.
- Record, name, and upload electrical installation QC photographs.
- Facilitate processes with parties on requests for information and design change notifications.
- Ensure projects are efficiently, effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures, local regulations, contracts, and policies.
- Verify constructability, advise on proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed.
- Walk down systems, develop and manage punch-lists.
- Review project completion packages for completeness and accuracy to as-built specifications.
- Interface with project's designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
- Oversee solar field commissioning activities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Electrical construction means and methods knowledge, including NEC and NFPA.
- Drawing review and field electrical quality control inspection.
- Organization and progress reporting.
- Proficiency with computer skills in Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel, document control systems, and PowerPoint.
- Effective communication with third parties and suppliers.
- Understanding of scheduling and planning.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3 years of construction experience in transmission, substation, battery, solar, budget, schedule, contractor oversight, plan, construction management, safety, risk management, risk assessment, reporting.
- Experience with project management (PMP), Primavera, lockout/tag out, QA/QC, safety management, construction inspection, and civil inspection.
- Utility background in construction, preferably in BESS, solar, or substation.
Work Environment
Work onsite at the construction site acting as oversight for the contractors performing the work. Projects are located in Texas, Nevada, California, and New Mexico. The role involves travel, with travel home provided once a month. The company offers compensation based on GSA rates.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
