Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Wixom, Michigan, for an anticipated duration of about 2 months, with the possibility of extension based on workload. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, 100% onsite position, with no option for hybrid or remote work. The role involves creating electrical drawing packages, designing control panel layouts, performing load, heat, and power calculations, and ensuring hardware design completeness. Familiarity with ARC Flash calculations, safety standards (NFPA79, UL508), and providing accurate Bill of Materials is essential. The ideal candidate should have 5 years of relevant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and EPlan (or at least one), and preferably a technical degree. Responsibilities
- Create electrical drawing packages for various types of equipment and machinery from scratch and using customer standards and templates.
- Design complete control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan.
- Provide accurate Bill of Materials as part of the design, adhering to customer specifications or documenting deviation acceptance from the customer as required.
- Perform ARC Flash calculations and ensure compliance with safety standards (NFPA79, UL508).
- Support manufacturing during startup and aid software designers.
- Read and understand various technical drawings.
- Design hardware and control panels from scratch, not just detail/draft.
- Assist with PLC programming as needed.
- Lead teams as required and provide expertise in hardware and control panel design.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan (both preferred).
- 5 years of experience in controls panel design.
- Experience in performing ARC Flash calculations.
- Ability to generate accurate Bill of Materials.
- Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA79, UL508).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Experience in supporting manufacturing during startup.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical degree preferred.
- Experience in PLC programming.
- Prior team leadership experience.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position with a schedule of 8am - 4pm. The role is 100% onsite in Wixom, Michigan. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.
