Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to join our machine shop located in the Kentwood area. In this role, you will be responsible for customizing machines for customers by accessing and updating PLC libraries and codes. Additionally, you will work with AutoCAD Electrical for design tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to see projects through from start to finish, with an average project length of 20 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Customize machines for customers by accessing and updating PLC libraries and codes.
• Work with AutoCAD Electrical for design tasks.
• Manage projects from initiation to completion.
• Travel up to 20% of the time, with occasional extended trips and potential international travel.
• Collaborate with the robotics team and interface with robotic programming when needed.
• Utilize cameras and vision systems as part of the project requirements.

Essential Skills

• Experience in Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting and editing.
• Proficiency in design using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong understanding of PLC programming, automation, HMI, and electrical design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens and Phoenix PLC programming.
• Knowledge of robotics and interfacing with robotic programming.
• Familiarity with cameras and vision systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment varies depending on the project stage. You will spend equal amounts of time in cubicles and the shop floor. The team is currently composed of 5 members, and you will report to a supervisor. Standard working hours are from 7AM to 4:30PM, with flexibility for those with family obligations. While there is no set hybrid schedule, remote work is possible when needed. The company offers growth opportunities, including title changes, raises, performance reviews, profit sharing, and bonuses. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
