Job Description: Controls Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in designing, implementing, and supervising control systems, ensuring they meet customer specifications and comply with all relevant standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct design reviews with customers and/or sales staff to review and clarify project design specifications.
- Assist the sales department with quotations to identify material and labor requirements for project tasks.
- Investigate and resolve conflicts with customers’ published requirements.
- Verify that designs comply with required electrical standards, building codes, and local regulations.
- Perform detailed calculations to support design decisions.
- Identify and create a bill of materials to meet control design requirements.
- Create complete electrical and/or pneumatic drawings using AutoCAD software to meet control design requirements and obtain customer approvals when required.
- Release a complete bill of materials to the purchasing department.
- Release a complete set of electrical and/or pneumatic drawings to the manufacturing department along with required documentation to support the build.
- Meet with the manufacturing department to review drawings, bill of materials, and any customer-specific requirements prior to the beginning of the build. Resolve any issues requiring engineering attention.
- Supervise the manufacturing process to assure conformity to customer specifications and sales order requirements.
- Use vendor software to create programs for programmable logic controllers, operator interfaces, supervisory systems, and other components as required.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Controls and PLC systems.
- Experience with Allen Bradley systems.
- 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio ME and SE.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree is a plus.
- Experience with Epicor Accounting Software, Microsoft OneNote, and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Knowledge of Rockwell RSLogix 5, Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, and WinCC.
- Familiarity with Wonderware, CNC Control, Vision Systems, Servo Motion Control, VFD Setup and Control, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and bar code readers.
- Understanding of NEC, UL, NFPA, and CSA standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
