Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

The controls engineer is responsible for overseeing a manufacturing line during their shift and managing capital projects while implementing and upgrading automated manufacturing lines. This role involves programming/modifying PLC code, troubleshooting HMI systems and servo drives, and project scheduling. The controls engineer will collaborate closely with the quality team to ensure smooth operations and high-quality output.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the manufacturing line during assigned shifts.
• Manage capital projects, including implementing and upgrading automated manufacturing lines.
• Program and modify PLC code.
• Troubleshoot HMI systems and servo drives.
• Collaborate with the quality team to support and enhance manufacturing processes.
• Schedule and manage project timelines.
• Ensure successful packaging and palletizing operations.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience working on automated lines.
• Experience with controls, including PLCs, HMI, and servo drives.
• Proficiency in PLC programming.
• Experience in project scheduling and management.
• Familiarity with schematic diagrams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with packaging equipment, such as palletizers.
• Knowledge of robotics, including 5 and 6 axis robots.
• Experience in upgrading old manufacturing lines or integrating new systems.
• Mechanical aptitude is a bonus.
• A 2-year degree with relevant work experience is acceptable, though a 4-year degree is preferred.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on role and not an office job. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm, with flexibility based on work-life balance. Travel is minimal and may include visits to OEMs or expos.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $45.67/hr.
