Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to create and commission industrial control systems, troubleshoot PLCs, and mentor technicians and engineers. You will conduct electrical studies to upgrade and improve current electrical controls, document systems for OEM equipment, and create ladder logic schematics. You will also assist in ordering electrical components, analyze plant processes, adhere to quality and safety standards, and specify electrical devices. Additionally, you will manage contractor interactions for electrical systems and provide engineering support for various projects.
Responsibilities
- Create and commission industrial control systems
- Troubleshoot PLCs and mentor technicians and engineers
- Conduct electrical studies to upgrade and improve current electrical controls
- Document current electrical systems for OEM equipment
- Create ladder logic schematics for undocumented equipment
- Order required electrical components and assist engineering and maintenance departments
- Analyze plant processes and suggest improvements based on electrical knowledge
- Adhere to quality and safety standards
- Specify electrical devices including sensors, VFDs, and PLC components
- Manage contractor interactions including design, costing, quoting, and executing electrical system upgrades
- Coordinate, support, and maintain various electrical system projects
- Provide engineering support for internally and externally designed projects
- Read and interpret electrical schematics
Essential Skills
- PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Reading engineering drawings and schematics
- Automation and controls engineering
- HMI programming
- RSLogix programming
- Strong command of logic controls, electrical software, and electric theory
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 79 codes
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in Controls Engineering, PLC, HMI, and high voltage systems
- Experience with manufacturing integration and commissioning
- Ability to supervise technicians
- Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies
- Using industry-specific tools to analyze and test electronics
- Time-management skills for meeting deadlines
- Previous electrical and programming experience in a manufacturing environment
- Facility electrical power distribution planning (12470Vac – 120Vac)
- Project management experience
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and maintenance management experience
- Experience with Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLC and RSLogix programming software
Work Environment
You will be working in a metal processing plant focused on the creation of super alloys. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The work environment involves implementing new product lines and processes, offering growth opportunities within the company.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
