Job Title: Deployment Engineer
Job Description
The Deployment Engineer plays a crucial role in the Amazon Robotics deployment team. They oversee the installation, troubleshooting, integration, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment in new and existing fulfillment centers (FCs). This field engineering-based position demands strong technical skills for deploying robotic equipment, including working with mechanical systems, electrical, configuring networking, and coordinating software systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with complex electro-mechanical and network systems and demonstrate leadership in installation, maintenance, upgrade, or troubleshooting of these systems.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide the installation of robotic technologies at fulfillment centers.
- Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems.
- Guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely.
- Generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work scopes.
- Lead teams of other engineers on projects.
- Develop process documentation and modify existing processes for new products.
- Recognize process gaps and develop solutions.
- Manage project durations which can range from a few days to several months and includes extensive travel across the US.
- Capture lessons learned, conduct retrospective reviews, and drive continuous improvement projects.
- Oversee and resolve escalations during robotics deployment including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, and operational readiness testing.
- Deliver projects by owning key performance indicators related to on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in reading, developing technical documentation, and writing process instructions.
- Experience handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-based construction or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency in standard office software tools and processes.
- Expertise in robotics, complex electro-mechanical systems, and networked engineering.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently while reporting to leadership.
- Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and data reporting on project status and technology deployments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Capability to function independently and manage a team of 1-5 engineers and related trades during deployments.
- Proficiency in integrated schedule management to coordinate with different teams.
- Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering or closely related STEM field.
- 3 years working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
- 2 years experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models to resolve on-site clash issues using 3D clash detection reports.
- 2 years working in a field setting including construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
- 1 year experience with troubleshooting robotics systems or other complex mechanical-electrical or networked systems.
Work Environment
You will be working with troubleshooting tools and managing the day-to-day logistics of parts and checklists. This position requires 100% travel, including working at both live warehouses and new construction sites across the US. A valid US driver's license is required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49.84 - $49.84/hr.
