Job Title: Environment Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

The Environment Health and Safety Specialist provides expertise in the development, implementation, and management of effective Safety, Health, and Environment programs/systems. The role involves routine analysis of hazardous situations and identification of alternative courses of action to ensure compliance and enhance safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development, documentation, improvement, and audit of site environmental, health, and safety systems to assure conformance and effectiveness.
• Determine plant environmental, safety, and health requirements and analyze for compatibility with corporate practices.
• Provide expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Health, Safety, and Environmental programs/procedures.
• Perform audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes, and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
• Ensure all applicable registrations, permits, and licenses are in place and current.
• Lead activities in support of Kaizen, Safety Star Point Teams (Safety Committee), Emergency Response Teams, and other project teams.
• Participate in developing and implementing training programs for employees.
• Gather data to identify, reduce, or eliminate sources of pollutants and/or hazards that affect the work environment and health of employees.
• Ensure that best practices, incidents, near misses, etc., are communicated between facilities.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant Health, Safety, and Environment regulations/standards experience.
• Professionally recognized safety or environmental certification (ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH, CHMM).
• RCRA Hazardous Waste Management training in accordance with 40 CFR 262.34.
• DOT training in accordance with 49 CFR 172.700-704.
• 40-hour initial and 8-hour refresher training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER).
• ISO experience.
• Knowledge of SAP, HumanTech, and/or other EHS-related software.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with safety training and safety program development.
• Understanding of CALOSHA and OSHA compliance.

Work Environment

The work environment includes performing audits and safety inspections of various work environments, processes, and operations. The role involves collaboration with multiple teams and participation in training programs. The specialist will use various EHS-related software and tools to manage and improve safety systems and ensure compliance with regulations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
