Job Title: Electrical CAD Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible for revising existing drawings and preparing drawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. The role involves plotting drawings, learning and adhering to company and client drafting standards and procedures, and understanding the practices of a selected discipline. The successful candidate will perform drafting and design of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects for customers, focusing mainly on drafting civil/structural designs for overhead transmission lines. Utilization of AutoCAD, Microstation, and Inventor may be required per client needs. Collaboration with other design techs, engineers, and project managers internally is essential.

Responsibilities

• Revise existing drawings and prepare new drawings of basic components from explicit instructions or detailed sketches.
• Plot drawings and adhere to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
• Learn and apply the practices of a selected discipline.
• Perform drafting and design of T&D projects for customers.
• Focus on drafting civil/structural designs for overhead transmission lines.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Microstation, and Inventor as required.
• Collaborate with other design technicians, engineers, and project managers.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Mastery of basic commands of at least one type of CAD system.
• High school diploma and coursework in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification.
• Entry-level position with zero to two years of professional drafting experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree in computer-aided drafting and design is desirable.
• Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.

Work Environment

This position is eligible for a flexible 9/80 work schedule. Initially, the candidate must work the traditional work schedule before transitioning to a 9/80 schedule upon manager approval. The role does not offer remote or hybrid work options and requires the candidate to be local. The second round of interviews will be conducted in person.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.15 - $25.20/hr.
