Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technician to perform engineering electronic technician tasks. The role involves assembling prototype PC boards and assemblies for space applications and defense programs.
You will be responsible for soldering, PCB assembly, and reading blueprints or schematics, as well as repairing and reworking components based on engineering team developments and sketches/drawings.
The projects will be complex and involve work for the NAVY, space industry avionics, and major defense programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage, fabricate, assemble, and support high-quality, high-reliability electrical and mechanical systems for space applications.
- Perform soldering, including through-hole and surface mount.
- Assemble PCBs and other components.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, engineering drawings, and schematics.
- Repair and rework components under J-Std standards.
- Work on projects involving small components, such as 20 and 32 gauge wires, often under a microscope.
- Collaborate with engineers on prototype assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and reassembling.
Essential Skills
- 3-7 years of experience in soldering, through-hole and surface mount, and PCB assembly with microscope experience.
- 2 years of experience with assembly for space, defense, or aerospace products or components in a prototype, R&D, or new product development area.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, minimal work instructions, and engineering sketches.
- Experience with testing, inspecting, and troubleshooting avionics electronics and electro-mechanical components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- J-Std with Space Addendum certification is ideal.
- Experience with IPC certifications.
- Familiarity with NASA space specifications or defense specifications.
- Experience in cleanroom environments.
- Knowledge of space flight hardware.
Work Environment
You will be working in a smaller shop with a team environment.

Key Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering or related field (e.g. computer engineering)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in soldering and electronic assembly
- Proficiency in testing and inspection techniques
- Able to work in a fast-paced production environment
