Job Title: Power Electronics Controls Systems Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Power Electronics Controls Systems Engineer who will develop advanced electrification controls solutions at both component and system levels for a broad range of applications. The ideal candidate will validate and deliver controls software through code development, simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation, laboratory testing, and field integration support. This role involves interfacing with stakeholders to develop control system requirements that support vehicle electrification solutions and conducting advanced electric drive and vehicle system simulation to support control system development and vehicle performance assessment.
Responsibilities
- Develop advanced electrification controls solutions at both component and system levels for a broad range of applications.
- Validate and deliver controls software through code development, simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation, laboratory testing, and field integration support.
- Interface with stakeholders to develop control system requirements that support vehicle electrification solutions.
- Conduct advanced electric drive and vehicle system simulation to support control system development and vehicle performance assessment.
Essential Skills
- 3 or more years of experience in advanced power electronics and/or control algorithm development.
- 3 or more years of simulation experience in power electronics, electric motors, and/or control systems.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/SIMULINK or similar simulation tools.
- 1 or more years of hands-on power electronics testing experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Relevant research experience in academic institutes will be equally considered.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced degree with a focus on power electronics and/or control system.
- Experience with advanced power electronic control, electric motor control, dc/dc converter, sensorless control, grid-tied inverter, energy storage integration, and vehicle power management.
- Experience with modeling, simulation, and Hardware-in-Loop testing.
- Experience with auto-code generation and embedded software implementation on microcontrollers and FPGA.
- Experience with advanced control systems and techniques such as observer, model predictive control, etc.
- Experience with advanced digital signal processing schemes such as filter design.
- Experience with hybrid and/or full electric vehicle applications.
- Experience with advanced research topics.
- Experience with power electronics hardware design.
- Minimum M.S. degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Focus on power electronics and/or control system highly desired.
Work Environment
You will work at the most advanced electronics lab at the forefront of new and emerging technology. This is a long-term position with benefits including 2 weeks of PTO and 6 holidays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $52.00/hr.
