Principal Firmware Engineer
Job Description
This role will be a key contributor to the development of complex embedded systems. Leading firmware design efforts, you will mentor junior engineers, participate in system-level architecture decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. This role demands a deep understanding of firmware development, extensive experience in coding and debugging, and the ability to provide technical leadership within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance for system-level decisions.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Optimize firmware for performance, power efficiency, and memory usage.
- Drive the design of firmware architecture, particularly in systems using Real Time Operations Systems.
- Drive innovation in firmware development processes.
- Collaborate with leadership and other cross-functional departments to align decisions with organizational goals.
- Lead the design of complex systems, research and propose innovative solutions.
- Formulate solutions to complex and ambiguous problems that are not well defined.
- Incorporate feedback and solutions from others.
- Act as Technical Lead, manage significant systems, use strategic planning and mitigate risk.
- Ensure documentation is accessible and understandable by cross-functional teams.
- Make critical decisions regarding firmware architecture, technology stack, and implementation strategies.
- Ensure firmware reliability and resilience in critical applications.
- Establish standardized processes and analyze process metrics.
- Influence change across disciplines and enforce quality standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, project teams, and cybersecurity to develop technical solutions to enable connectivity, over-the-air updates, and data transfer.
Essential Skills
- 8 years of experience in C, C , Embedded Linux Software, Network Protocols (MQTT, WPA-Enterprise, WPA-Personal), and Firmware Development.
- Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical device, automotive, aerospace/defense.
Other Skills & Qualifications
- Security (Network and Cybersecurity) experience.
Work Environment
This position will be working in a highly collaborative team environment. The Versailles location is their main campus with roughly 5-6 different buildings. The newer HQ has an open desk concept, a cafeteria, a work facility, and a medical clinic on site.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $75.00/hr.
