Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Firmware Engineer to join our team. This role involves the end-to-end design and development of embedded solutions in a collaborative Agile firmware development team. You will drive firmware quality through early defect discovery and removal, analyze acceptance criteria, and provide estimates of effort.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded solutions from end to end.
- Collaborate within an Agile firmware development team using Scrum processes.
- Drive firmware quality by implementing early defect discovery and removal.
- Analyze acceptance criteria and provide effort estimates.
- Translate business requirements into data models.
- Produce technical design documentation for assigned features and user stories.
Essential Skills
- 3 years of experience in firmware and embedded software development.
- Proficiency in C development.
- Experience with Embedded Linux
- Ability to read hardware schematics.
- Comfortable working with hardware, debugging, and familiar with tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience working in embedded Linux.
- Understanding of protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, MODBUS, USB, and Ethernet.
- Ability to code and demonstrate competency in C .
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline is strongly preferred, but applicable experience without a degree is considered.
- Experience with TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with Embedded Linux build systems such as Yocto.
- Experience with Agile Development using Jira and the Atlassian Suite.
- Experience with basic scripting languages: Shell, Bash, Python.
- UI experience with React.js and Node.js frameworks is a big plus.
- Ability to speak to industrial instrumentation architecture.
- Ability to code low-level hardware interfaces.
Work Environment
This is a contract position requiring a minimum of 4 days on-site with Friday as a flex day. You will work on a large campus with hundreds of people on-site, and all manufacturing is done in-house. The work environment is highly collaborative, resembling a college senior design project on a larger scale. Daily activities include a 9 am scrum meeting to review tasks and goals, engaging in troubleshooting, development, writing code, building, deploying, and debugging. Weekly development discussions focus on problem areas, system issues, and necessary interfaces. The campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities including a 10m EMC chamber, HALT chamber, PCA/SMT line, injection molding, and more. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.
