We at Actalent Services are a fast-growing engineering consulting group which expanded to Canada in 2014. A significant part of that growth has come out of our Western Canadian Operations focused on Infrastructure and Utilities projects. To support this growth, we have opened a full-time position for an EIT to join our team on a full-time basis.

The selected individual will be a part of our Utilities Division, which is based out of New Westminster, BC. As stated, this role will be Remote from Prince George, BC.

The selected individual will join our rapidly growing team delivering projects to a variety of utility clients with a focus on electrical utility infrastructure. This role will cover field inspections for our BC Hydro Distribution projects within Northern BC. The role with have both distribution design and field inspection responsibilities.

Key activities include liaising with project stakeholders, completing project designs and performing quality assurance functions.

This role required Drug and Alcohol screening as a pre-employment requirement.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, with preference to Electrical or Civil.
• Registered, or eligible to register with EGBC as an EIT
• 1 year experience in design and/or field inspection of overhead power distribution infrastructure (relevant Co-ops can be considered experience).
• Perform field inspection at approx. 50%
• Class 5 Driver License
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficient using MS Office and AutoCAD software

Considered an asset

• Design experience, Co-op or post grad, of BC Hydro Overhead (OH) or Underground (UG) utility distribution.
• Experience using SPIDAcalc, PLS-CADD, DAD and/or Passport

Job Responsibilities

• Design underground and overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements.
• Perform field inspections on BC Hydro OH and UG distribution infrastructure
• Use SPIDAcalc non-linear pole line analysis tool to evaluate pole design and create non-standard OH Line design solutions.
• Use of underground cable pulling calculation software to confirm design solutions, such as pull planner.
• Use load balancing and fuse coordination software for distribution system improvement projects.
• Provide design for any non-standard/engineered solutions.
• Prepare design packages for review and submission. Packages to be provided for Pole Replacement/Maintenance, LPT/PMT/Livefront, Feeder Design, Smart Meter, Customer Driven 3rd Party Attachments, Automation and other BC Hydro Programs.
• Checking and reviewing work of peers
• Prepare issue for construction packages
• Coordinating with clients, co-workers, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders
• Attend project meetings and conduct site inspections and reviews

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00
