Entry Level Engineer
Job Description
An Associate Professional - Staff Engineer in the Overland Park, KS office will perform various activities related to environmental consulting. You will be a quick learner, motivated, eager to learn, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to develop professionally. Project responsibilities will primarily focus on civil/environmental services, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other projects that may require design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
- Follow directions of Project Manager to meet both client and company expectations.
- Apply knowledge based on engineering or scientific problems and methods, review plans, and assist in coordinating work under the direction of the Project Manager.
- Perform field work in varied terrain and weather, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, and inspections.
- Complete office-based tasks including CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, and permit applications.
- Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and seek supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
- Travel (20% expected): Typically local, occasionally overnight.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering major.
- Professional Engineering license or progress toward a professional engineering license (e.g., E.I.T certification) preferred.
- Competency with MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is ideal.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in environmental engineering, data collection, report writing, civil engineering, groundwater, Hazwoper, construction quality assurance, field inspection, and geology.
- Interview skills and ability to work within a team environment.
Work Environment
Work will be conducted in the office, at home, and in the field. Field work will involve varied terrain and weather conditions.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.25/hr.
