Job Description

The QC Technician is responsible for performing quality audits on products and processes during receiving, production, and packaging to ensure adherence to company quality standards. This role includes tasks such as product sampling, line monitoring, auditing, lab testing, and calibration to ensure compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct QC tasks including product sampling, line monitoring, auditing, lab testing, and calibration to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Hold products that do not meet company quality standards and provide appropriate dispositions.
• Understand and utilize information contained within product specification sheets.
• Be knowledgeable of the quality characteristics for packaged products.
• Perform lab testing procedures such as brix, refractive index, pH, density, sensory evaluation, weights, moisture testing, etc.
• Operate equipment such as pH meters, viscosity meters, and GCMS.

Essential Skills

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related science field (AA/BA/BS).
• 1 year of experience in Food QC with specific testing experience preferred
• Ability to conduct lab testing procedures such as brix, refractive index, pH, density, sensory evaluation, weights, moisture testing, etc.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and standards.
• Ability to wear a half-face respirator when working with specific chemicals in production.
• Willingness to work early morning shifts and weekends as needed.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a lab setting, testing food for pH and viscosity. The company is extremely busy, with production operating 7 days a week, which requires QC support all 7 days. Candidates should be willing to work one day on the weekend, resulting in a 6-day workweek. The shift time for the 1st shift is from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend shifts. Shift hours on Saturday or Sunday may vary. The company tries to schedule personnel to avoid back-to-back weekend work, but flexibility is required to cover for absences or vacations. The lab must be staffed to accommodate production schedules.

Shift Times

• 1st Shift: 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
• 2nd Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• 3rd Shift: 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
