Job Title: Environmental Field Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Environmental Field Technician based in Mobile. This role involves working alongside scientists and engineers on various land redevelopment, electric utility, remediation, chemical/petroleum spill, and municipal solid waste landfill projects. The technician will follow regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, and company protocols while exercising independent judgment to complete tasks and projects with minimal direction from management.
Responsibilities
- Operation and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems
- Well installation oversight
- Groundwater sampling
- Surface water sampling
- Soil sampling (stock pile and soil blending)
- Air/vapor monitoring
- Preparation of field notes
- Surveying
Essential Skills
- Experience with environmental remediation field work
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting machine parts and basic electrical work
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing
- Strong communication skills, great attention to detail, and solid judgment
- Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Capable of working independently and with minimal supervision
- Skilled in conducting environmental field services in an industrial setting
- Proficient in interpreting and understanding SID and NPDES permit requirements
- Familiar with the correct procedures for collecting, documenting, and preparing SID and NPDES samples for shipment
- Able to work effectively in outdoor environments and various weather conditions
- Able to walk long distances including climbing stairs and ladders
- Skilled in troubleshooting auto-samplers and recommending corrective actions when needed
Work Environment
The role involves working in outdoor conditions and receiving work assignments from Project Managers. The technician will administratively report to an assigned supervisor and may work independently or with other staff to complete tasks. The technician will need to carry equipment (25lb cooler and samples, shovel, hand auger, etc.) across large sites, which will require a lot of walking. A company or rental vehicle will be provided. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00
