Job Title: Environmental Lab Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Lab Analyst with a BS degree in Chemistry or a related science field such as Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Sciences. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory performing chemical analysis, including TSS, Oil & Grease, ion chromatography, gas chromatography, ICP-MS, atomic absorption, and coal and/or fuel oil sulfur content. The role involves handling, preparing, and analyzing various environmental samples according to EPA, ASTM, or other protocols, and requires experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods.

Responsibilities

• Analyze environmental samples, including process water samples, coal, fuel oil, and compliance water samples using specialized equipment and techniques.
• Maintain accurate records, permits, and documentation required for environmental compliance and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve environmental goals.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Sciences.
• Several years of experience performing laboratory analysis, preferably with EPA methods or environmental analysis.
• Proficiency in laboratory testing equipment and safe lab practices.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges and recommend innovative solutions.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information and compliance requirements.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in environmental documentation and regulatory compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with chemical nomenclature, instrumentation, and inorganic analytical methods including EPA methodology supporting NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, and EPA Solid Waste - 846 methods.
• Analytical thinking to assess environmental data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
• Experience in an environmental laboratory setting is highly desired.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position with no hybrid options.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
