Floor Medical Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Floor Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team as a floor float. The MA will be responsible for routine vital checks of patients and basic phlebotomy requirements. If a patient is in distress and in urgent need of care, the MA will notify the nursing staff to take action.

Responsibilities

• Collect the patient’s name and reason for visit.
• Enter the data so the patient is visible on the tracking board.
• Document and maintain patient records, including temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, oxygen saturation, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment by checking equipment daily for proper function and reporting equipment that is out of order, handling linen appropriately, and storing supplies.
• Respond to patient requests and keep them updated on care progress.
• Report observed changes in patient condition to nurse or provider.
• Assist in triage with vital signs.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly patient and work environment.
• Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Phlebotomy

• Conduct phlebotomy as needed

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2 years clinical experience preferred (MA certified or non-certified)
• MA certification OR relevant experience accepted (certification not required)

Work Environment

The position is based in a hospital environment that includes a mix of office and hospital settings. The hospital has 541 beds, including 27 Intensive Care Units (ICUs)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
