Job Title: R&D Scientist

Job Description

This consultant will be overseeing R&D and the commercialization of new products currently in development.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development and full commercialization processes.
• Collaborate with regulatory personnel.
• Create and manage PLM loads and specification sheets.
• Develop and make product samples.
• Formulate new products by connecting with suppliers and creating gold standards.
• Ensure feasibility of new products, acceptable margins, and compliance with regulatory and labeling requirements.
• Manage packaging projects including toppers and totes/drums.
• Oversee raw material expiration and extension for food safety.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives through ingredient swaps and consolidation, assessing downstream implications.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
• Approximately 7 years of experience in food and new product development.
• Proficiency in new product development, formulation, and bench chemistry.
• Experience with TraceGains or similar software.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience working in a plant or manufacturing space, commercializing products.
• Strong collaborative skills.

Work Environment

The R&D Scientist will collaborate with other departments but will primarily work independently. The position is 24 hours a week working 3 days a week, 8 hours a day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $100.00/hr.
