Job Title: GIS Specialist

Job Description

Assist with GIS, data, and mapping for the Engineering and Surveying departments while supporting both internal and external project teams. Assist in producing technical specifications, project approach, cost estimates, and schedules. Utilize various software packages and information from multiple sources to create GIS maps and support field personnel as well as deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Assist with GIS mapping and data collection tasks.
• Utilize various software packages such as MS Access databases, MS Excel spreadsheets, and documents like deeds and field notes to create GIS maps.
• Assist with digital feature extraction from multiple data sources.
• Aid in projections and transformations for project deliverables.
• Evaluate GIS system needs and requirements to implement improved work methods.
• Create and update new and existing GIS maps and map layers, and edit GPS data using ArcGIS.
• Collect and post-process GPS data for high accuracy specifications.
• Assist with GIS metadata creation.
• Design extensions and add-ins for GIS applications such as ESRI ArcGIS Explorer for in-house use.
• Conduct land survey records searches and ownership data research from various sources.
• Georeference Raster and Vector data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, CAD, and ESRI.
• Proficiency in drafting, GIS analysis, and geospatial data.
• Knowledge of geography, engineering, and cartography.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with GIS mapping.
• Familiarity with Geopak.

Work Environment

The work involves collaborating with the Engineering and Surveying departments and supporting both internal and external project teams. You will use various software packages and data sources to create GIS maps, which will support field personnel and serve as deliverables. Dress code and specific work conditions are not specified.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
