Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer
Responsibilities
- Act as the Design Authority for all Mission System products.
- Provide hardware estimates for new programs from the Core Hardware group.
- Collaborate with product architects and business development managers to understand customer requirements and assign them to functional groups.
- Ensure hardware architecture aligns with platform design to minimize cost and schedule.
- Document the hardware, AEH, mechanical, and electrical technical solutions in the HW OEDP.
- Work with AEH, mechanical, ECAD, electrical, HQE, test engineering, and airworthiness teams to define solutions and formalize estimates.
- Capture estimates using proven templates for LRU development.
- Provide technical guidance to designers working on Mission System products.
- Define the product roadmap for next-generation products in conjunction with platform architects and product managers.
- Support customer pursuits by creating technical proposals.
- Review customer statements of work and design needs to ensure proposed solutions meet requirements.
- Conduct trade-off studies on advanced avionics system architectures and make recommendations.
- Stay updated on the state-of-the-art in avionics systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer or electrical engineering, or related technical field.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience in the aerospace industry.
- Extensive knowledge of Mission Computers and civil and military markets.
- Experience in product ownership throughout its lifecycle and managing an engineering team of at least 10 people.
- Customer-facing experience in the aviation industry for both civil and military sectors.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes according to aviation standards.
- Ability to forecast market and technology trends and align strategies for success.
- Exposure to various engineering disciplines including electronics, software, firmware, and mechanical.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE System Engineering processes is an asset.
- Understanding of airworthiness standards such as DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, and MIL-STD is an asset.
- Experience in requirements capture and management using DOORS (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of civil and/or military specification standards and practices such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, and DO-297 is an advantage.
- Prior experience with avionics systems such as Display Systems, FMS, GPS, TAWS, WXR, SVS, Audio Systems, and Moving map is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of FAA TSO, FARs, and related regulations and procedures is an advantage.
- Certification FAR PART 23/25 related experience is an advantage.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $76.00/hr.
