Job Description
Geotechnical engineers will take samples from the field crews and evaluate soil, rock, and underground water to determine the feasibility and design specifications for construction projects. You will be sitting onsite at Offutt Air Force Base to perform geotechnical analysis and study to assess construction site conditions. You will also serve as the liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers. You will plan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively, perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects, inspect and check quality, and participate in soil sampling 20% of the time. You will analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports for the Project Manager. Additionally, you will provide direction to the technical team in field inspection activities, interact with customers and team members to complete assigned projects on time, and review construction design proposals to approve geotechnical aspects.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively.
- Perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects.

Essential Skills
- Must have a minimum of an associate's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
- 1-5 years of commercial construction experience.
- Pass MVR.
- Experience in construction inspection, observation, and instrumentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred experience as an inspector, observer, surveyor, or in Construction Materials Testing (CMT).
- Ability to manage a team and move into a project engineering role.
- Organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
- Successful experience in client service management.
- Successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office.
- Experience in strategy development, change management, and corporate stewardship.
- Sound decision-making skills, including making sound business decisions and solving complex problems.
- Understanding of geotechnical practices, including exploration, analysis, design, and project document production.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to other offices and project sites as required.
Work Environment
You will spend 20% of your time in the office planning and documenting and 70% onsite at Offutt Air Force Base, which is a loud, dirty commercial construction site. You will report to the Project Manager in Geotechnical Engineering and serve as the liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
