Job Title: Chemistry Lab Assistant (Overnight Weekends)

Job Description

We are seeking a diligent Chemistry Lab Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling and processing lab samples, ensuring accurate tracking, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This role is crucial to our operations, particularly in supporting the country's needs during the current pandemic.

Responsibilities

• Pull samples out of storage or walk-in fridges and bring to technicians for retesting
• Handle 200-300 samples at a time
• Scan samples into the tracking system
• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Perform data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift
• Comfortable handling human samples
• Must be at least 18 years old

Work Environment

This position requires working in shifts with the following schedules:

• Sun-Thursday 10pm-6:30am
• Tues-Saturday 10pm-6:30am
• Mon-Fri 10pm-6:30am.

The work involves light lifting and carrying, with the ability to lift and push 10-15 pounds. The majority of the shift will be spent on your feet, with substantial time spent in walk-in fridges. The team consists of 8-9 members for day shift lab assistants. This is a contract-only position with potential for permanent roles in the future. Benefits include paid fifteen-minute breaks and an unpaid thirty-minute break.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
