Job Title: Entry Level Lab Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemistry Lab Assistant to join our team. This role involves handling and processing clinical lab specimens, ensuring proper maintenance of lab equipment, and performing administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a medical or laboratory setting, and be comfortable working with human samples.

Responsibilities

• Pull samples out of storage or walk-in fridges and bring to technicians for retesting.
• Handle 200-300 samples at once and scan them into the tracking system.
• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information into the database.
• Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
• Comfortable working with human samples.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous medical or laboratory experience, including academic experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Work Environment

The work schedule is either Tuesday-Saturday 8am-4:30pm or Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.

• The position includes two fifteen-minute paid breaks and one thirty-minute unpaid break.
• The team consists of 8-9 people for day shift lab assistants.
• The role involves light lifting and carrying, with the ability to lift and push up to 10-15 pounds.
• Most of the shift will be spent on your feet, with some time spent in walk-in fridges.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.
