Job Title: Lab Assistant

Job Description

We are currently seeking Lab Assistants for our clinical trials department. The Lab Assistant will be working in a high-volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
• Aliquotting, filling the lab with supplies, and inventory management.
• Build batches of specimens and pass them on to the lab for processing.
• Pull repeat specimens and support lab testing up until passed off to technicians.
• Perform pre-analytical steps with a lot of pipetting involved.
• Work within a high-volume laboratory as part of a dedicated team to ensure patient results are reported within an acceptable turn-around-time.
• Maintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation.
• Perform required QC/QA duties which include error detection, maintain records/logs, and pull samples for testing.

Essential Skills

• Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in a science-related field is preferred but not required.
• 0-1 years of lab experience is preferred.
• Prior experience working as an accessioner or specimen processor is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Biology experience
• Lab technician or lab assistant experience

Work Environment

Will be working in a fast-paced lab environment. This lab will be in charge of receiving and processing 100,000 samples a week. Openings are available across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
