Technician

Job Description

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician 2 will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness
• May assist with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.
• Inspecting equipment and inform supervisor if adjustment is required
• Ensure analytical quality
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Good hand-eye coordination
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension
• Basic English communication skills (written and verbal)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a mineral lab or manual labor in a warm environment
• Ability to match numbers
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable wearing PPE and a respirator

Work Environment

The work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, with two possible schedules: Wed-Sat 5:30am-4pm or Sun-Wed 5:30am-4pm. The work environment may be hot and dusty, and the role requires manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks. The position involves standing or sitting for long periods and occasionally lifting up to 50lbs (assistance is mandatory if exceeding 50lbs).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.39 - $18.39/hr.
