Job Description
Under the direction of department leadership, performs clerical and other technical lab duties in a timely and accurate manner, with quality that exceeds customer expectations. Takes pride in performing customer service tasks, executed at a high level. Executes to daily scheduled tasks, takes initiative within the scope of the role, and strives to improve work processes based on laboratory and client needs. Understands to a high degree the importance of daily tasks performed and the impact they have on the patients and providers we work with to provide lifesaving diagnostic services.
Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Support leadership during audits, as needed.
- Ship, receive, and track packages and specimens while maintaining sample integrity.
- Receive, classify, and process specimens accurately and expediently.
- Inspect specimens and paperwork for accuracy and acceptability.
- Maintain sample identity and ensure proper handling and storage at appropriate temperatures.
- Perform accurate data entry using appropriate systems.
- Proofread work for content, spelling, accuracy, and document format.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing, as needed.
- Perform reagent preparation, as needed.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance and calibration on equipment.
- Identify and document sample issues or discrepancies and work with clients to resolve them.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to emails with professionalism and courtesy.
- Research and resolve issues promptly, following up with customers as needed.
- Provide exemplary customer service through written and verbal communication.
- Maintain organization of departmental records, as needed.
- Support the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory.
- Work weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled.
- Train others on job tasks, as assigned.
- Maintain competencies and continuing education credits, performing duties in accordance with laboratory policy.
- Comply with all standard operating policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
- High School diploma with 6 months of work experience (production or healthcare experience - phlebotomy, specimen processing, labeling, collection, etc.)
- OR Associate's degree in life science/science adjacent with retail/serving/fast-paced experience OR Bachelor's degree in a science adjacent field.
- Laboratory experience in sample prep, specimen processing, and sample handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification or experience in phlebotomy, specimen collection, and labeling.
- Experience in accessioning, packaging, and sample handling.
- Customer service skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $21.31/hr.
