Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Job Description

The main function of a Laboratory Assistant is to perform complex medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role typically reports to a biochemist or microbiologist and involves analyzing laboratory findings to ensure the accuracy of results, monitoring clinical trials, and assisting in identifying microbial organisms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
• Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
• Monitor clinical trials for research organizations or internal research.
• Cultivate, isolate, and assist in identifying microbial organisms.
• Perform various tests on microorganisms.
• Conduct clinical trials of pharmaceuticals.
• Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into a computer for storage.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers.

• BS in Biology or Chemistry
• 0-1 years of lab experience
• Prior ICP/MS experience is a plus

Work Environment

The Laboratory Assistant will work in the immunoassay department located in a large reference lab. The role requires being on your feet throughout the day and being comfortable going in and out of walk-in coolers to receive samples. The shift schedule is Tuesday to Saturday from 10 PM onwards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
