Job Title: Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role requires working from 6pm to 6:30am on a 2-2-3 schedule, with the schedule changing every week. The position involves spending approximately 75% of the time on the manufacturing floor and 25% in the lab performing various quality assurance tests and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological evaluations of all raw, pasteurized, and final products.
• Operate laboratory equipment including spectrometer, FTIR analyzer, moisture analyzer, pH meter, etc.
• Conduct daily quality audits and checks on the plant floor and document findings.
• Recognize and notify the Quality Assurance Lead, Quality Assurance Manager, and appropriate supervisors of any unusual results or product defects.
• Perform necessary re-checks for analytical and microbiological tests.
• Conduct tests including Total Solids/Moisture Analysis, Powder test for scorched particle and moisture, Whey Protein Nitrogen test (WPN), and Bacteria tests (SPC, Coli, LPC).
• Properly identify outgoing samples for third-party testing.
• Lift 50 lb bags of raw materials and boxes 5-10 times per shift.
• Commute up stairs and across the floor to perform tasks and collect samples.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or similar scientific major.
• Experience in testing and laboratory work (college experience acceptable).
• Food manufacturing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Life Science degree preferred.

Work Environment

The work will be performed in a state-of-the-art USDA regulated laboratory and manufacturing floor. The technician will spend 25% of the time within the lab and the other 75% on the floor, collecting samples and communicating with all levels of staff. The facility is very clean, and all employees must wash hands and change shoes before entering certain areas. There are locker rooms and showers on site. The dress code is very casual, but closed-toe shoes are required. The team is close-knit, and the technician will work with 4-5 other people.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.25 - $26.25/hr.
