Job Title: Land Surveyor (Crew Chief)

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Land Surveyor (Crew Chief or Instrument Operator) to join our expanding team in North Carolina. We are currently in growth mode and looking to open offices in Raleigh and Wilmington. The surveyor must be proficient in all aspects of land surveying during field operations, including proper measures, methods, and standards acceptable within the industry and specific to the equipment used. This position will require the supervision of others in the execution of boundary surveys, topographical surveys, control surveys, mortgage surveys, as-built surveys, and all aspects of construction staking.

Responsibilities

• Take instruction and follow directions.
• Lead survey crew in executing field surveys accurately and efficiently.
• Supervise survey crew members in proper surveying techniques and equipment operations.
• Provide leadership in vehicle, instrument, and equipment care and maintenance.
• Develop thorough and accurate field notes, survey reports, and calculations.
• Proactively provide routine communications to supervisors.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with robotic and GPS survey instruments.
• Proficiency using laptop computers and data collection software.
• 1-2 years of recent survey experience.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Availability to travel and work overtime.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Construction staking from surface files.
• Direct experience with Topcon Robotic Total Station, Topcon GR-3 and GR-5 GPS (including VRS operation), Lecia GPS, and Carlson SurvCE software.
• Proficiency with Tesla Data Collection using TDS software.
• Data import and export experience.

Work Environment

The individual will be working in the field and is expected to travel throughout the Carolinas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
