Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing below-the-hook lifting equipment, creating detailed drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with project requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in SolidWorks and experience with ERP systems.
Responsibilities
- Design new below-the-hook lifting equipment using SolidWorks (25% of the time)
- Create detailed drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD (50% of the time)
- Perform calculations for equipment by hand or using spreadsheets (5% of the time)
- Work within ERP systems such as Bluestar PLM and Microsoft D365 to create items and bills of materials (5% of the time)
- Review internal, customer, and industry standards to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Evaluate vendor bids and drawings for compliance with specifications
- Check design and fabrication drawings created by others (10% of the time)
- Assist sales and service engineering departments as needed
- Provide engineering liaison with other departments
- Offer engineering-related customer support via phone, email, and occasional travel to customer sites
- Independently set goals, adhere to budgets, and meet assignment deadlines
- Plan, make decisions, troubleshoot problems, and identify possible solutions while considering potential outcomes
Essential Skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong experience using SolidWorks or another 3D CAD software
- Experience with electrical design or willingness to learn
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), hand calculations, and Excel
- Experience working within an ERP system
- Strong experience in design for manufacturability
- Post-schooling experience in electromechanical engineering
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electrical design is preferred
- Minimum of 5,000 hours of experience with SolidWorks
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment, with 40% remote work after the first year. Initially, you will need to be in the office until you are up to speed. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.00/hr.
