Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team. The Mechanical Designer will work under the direction of the Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager to apply mechanical theory in designing and specifying mechanical systems. The role involves performing load estimates, energy usage calculations, completing energy code compliance documentation, participating in coordination meetings with design team members and clients, corresponding with vendors and contractors, performing site surveys, observing construction projects, and reviewing submittals.
Responsibilities
- Possess knowledge of or actively learn various HVAC systems and firm-specific standards.
- Coordinate clearances and fit for all MEPT systems.
- Calculate HVAC load estimates for various spaces, buildings, and processes.
- Conduct site surveys.
- Design air distribution and hydronic systems under the supervision of a Mechanical Engineer.
- Design and layout ductwork, size ducts, and select grilles, registers, and diffusers.
- Select central air handling units and terminal units.
- Design and layout piping systems, including sizing and selecting central plant equipment.
- Design automation control systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in related discipline
- Ability to perform duct sizing and layouts, as well as load calculations
- 2 years of HVAC design experience
- Proficiency in Revit
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Would also consider candidates who possess:
- Two-year degree in Engineering or Technology in related discipline with Revit Proficiency
- Non-degreed candidates with a minimum of 5 years of HVAC Design experience
- EIT license is a plus.
Work Environment
The office is located in downtown Indianapolis in a standalone building with its own parking. This is an in-person position, with flexibility to work from home when needed, but generally, employees are expected to work on-site. The company offers a high deductible plan with an HSA, covering 60% of premiums, as well as vision and dental insurance. Benefits include a 401k with a safe harbor 3% contribution, $25,000 life insurance, 2 weeks of vacation, 1 week of sick time, 2 personal days, and 6 paid holidays. The salary is complemented by a bonus based on a profit-sharing program, which can range from 10-20% of the salary. Additionally, summer hours are in effect from Memorial Day through Labor Day (4 days of 9 hours and 1 day of 4 hours).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
