Job Title: Mechanical Drafter

Job Description

We're looking for a drafter experienced in steel manufacturing and fabrication for our Lighting, Traffic & Communication Structures division. The role involves processing orders, interpreting customer specifications, and preparing drawings, with occasional customer interaction. Collaboration across departments is crucial to maintain quality and meet objectives. The Drafter identifies issues in customer information and suggests improvements to procedures and designs, ensuring compliance with company standards. They also review internal documents for accuracy and may release projects under supervision, while having authority to make decisions within established guidelines, escalating issues as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process orders and prepare detailed drawings.
• Interpret customer specifications accurately.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure quality and meet objectives.
• Identify and address issues in customer information.
• Suggest improvements to procedures and designs.
• Ensure compliance with company standards.
• Review internal documents for accuracy.
• Release projects under supervision and make decisions within established guidelines.
• Escalate issues as necessary.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Strong drafting and documentation skills.
• Experience with Bill of Material (BOM) processes.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Background in manufacturing, design, mechanical design, mechanical engineering, CAD, mechanical drafting, sheet metal, and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of GD&T and drafting/design principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associates degree in drafting/design.
• Minimum education and experience required for consideration.
• High character and a go-getter attitude.
• Ability to work independently.

Work Environment

The role is onsite for the first 6-8 months, transitioning to a hybrid model once proficiency is demonstrated. You can work 2 or 3 days a week from home based on your preference. Enjoy 9 holidays (including 1 floating holiday) and 3 weeks of PTO. Additional benefits include 32 hours of personal time, and benefits starting on the 1st of the following month. The company offers a 401(k) plan with employer contributions matching up to 4.5%.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $52000.00

9 holidays – 1 is floating and then 3 weeks of PTO (2.31 hours per week is the accrual)
32 hours of personal time as well.
Benefits start 1st of the next month.
