Job Title: Mechanical Drafter
Job Description
The mechanical drafter will be primarily responsible for all drawing and document retrieval, as well as archiving drawings into the data system. The chosen candidate will work closely with maintenance, quality, engineering, and other departments to retrieve prints and drawings of specific equipment. If an old part needs to be drawn or designed without an existing print, this individual may utilize AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or SolidEDGE to design the part. Additional responsibilities include providing miscellaneous administrative support to help the engineering team work more efficiently, such as maintaining printer and plotter equipment and changing ink cartridges.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize the engineering archives, including electronic, hardcopy, and microfilm formats.
- Support internal and external customers with locating, modifying, and distributing drawings as necessary.
- Provide mechanical design solutions and drafting for assigned projects, including machine part design, piping design, conveyor design, structural design, and mechanical component selection.
- Provide electrical drafting support as necessary, including red lining electrical drawings.
- Manage multiple small design projects simultaneously without losing continuity.
- Provide field observations, dimensioning, and installation support for modifications or new installations.
- Document shop modifications to support the plant sector shops.
- Maintain and update the plant layout drawings.
- Interface with engineers, internal staff, support groups, outside contractors, suppliers, and vendors to accomplish assignments.
- Operate and support engineering printers, plotters, scanners, and other equipment.
- Support the conversion of plant paper files to electronic files through document scanning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support technical service activities.
- Follow appropriate design standards and practices.
- Work with minimal supervision and effectively multi-task.
Essential Skills

Work Environment
The work environment includes working with various engineering technologies and equipment such as printers, plotters, and scanners. The role requires interaction with multiple departments and external entities. The candidate should be prepared to work in both office and field settings, performing tasks that involve document scanning and maintenance of plant layout drawings.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
