Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

As a Project/Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete and accurate design of projects. You will play a pivotal role in reviewing, approving, and designing hoist and bridge components, as well as providing engineering support to various departments.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve hoist & bridge components selected in estimating prior to ordering for a job.
• Design and detail hoist & bridge packages for the shop.
• Provide engineering support for estimating and sales.
• Act as Project Manager on jobs as required.
• Review specifications and submittals as needed.
• Maintain customer contact as required.
• Provide engineering support to the shop as needed.
• Design and detail custom machinery projects.
• Coordinate job packages for smooth processing in the shop.
• Supply technical information as needed to process an order.
• Report discrepancies between as-estimated and as-engineered products to the Engineering Manager.
• Perform other duties as required.

Essential Skills

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in mechanical design and engineering
• Proficiency in steel design and sheet metal
• Understanding of GD&T and project management

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Crane design experience is a plus
• Project Management experience is a plus
• Experience working through a metal fab shop is advantageous

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing site where engineers sit in an office next to the shop. The role involves a lot of interaction with shop personnel. The environment is deadline-driven with a laid-back culture. The team consists of 10 mechanical engineers. The standard shift is a typical day shift, but there may be occasions when more than a 40-hour workweek is required. The dress code is business casual. The company offers great health benefits, 15 days of PTO, and a friendly, family atmosphere. Additionally, employees become eligible for company stock after a year of employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hr.
