Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are a manufacturing company based out of Laporte, Indiana, with over 50 years of experience in developing and producing heavy-duty geotechnical drilling machines and supplementary equipment. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is experienced in hydraulic and electronic controls, static and dynamic force analysis, welded and sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical power transmission. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will apply your engineering expertise both in the office and on the shop floor to support product improvement and engineering support.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering expertise to support the development and production of heavy-duty geotechnical drilling machines.
• Update existing drawings and gradually transition to new product designs within six months.
• Diagnose quality or part issues on the shop floor in relation to design.
• Design with carbon steels, roundstock, and tubing.
• Work on one project at a time, with projects typically lasting 6-12 months.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Mechanical Design, and New Product Development.
• Experience in mechanical engineering and mechanical design.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
• Understanding of design for fabrication or machined parts, and weldments.
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for product errors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with other design software such as Fusion and Creo is also acceptable.
• Hands-on experience or hobbies in working on cars, motorcycles, etc. is beneficial.

Work Environment

This role involves designing, fabricating, and assembling industrial equipment. Initially, the work distribution is 90% design and 10% floor support, transitioning to 70% desk work and 30% floor support after six months. You will have the opportunity to manage projects and receive coaching, making it an excellent place to start and build your career. The leading industry in Northwest Indiana is industrial equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.06/hr.
