Job Description
Actalent is seeking to hire a Mechanical Project Manager who will take ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring successful outcomes. This role requires a blend of engineering and project management skills to manage multiple projects, direct multi-discipline teams, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and direct work on multiple projects simultaneously, acting as both lead engineer and project manager.
- Manage projects ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000 in engineering budgets.
- Oversee project schedules, scopes, and budgets, providing status reports to clients and experienced management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, offering solutions based on minimal information.
- Lead internal and client meetings, both web-based and in-person.
- Take ownership of weekly meeting agendas and minutes to communicate key project-related issues promptly.
- Estimate costs for projects, including engineering costs, construction costs, and related expenses.
- Manage and de-escalate conflicts with clients and within the project team.
- Serve as a lead discipline engineer on projects, demonstrating high proficiency within your engineering discipline.
- Complete engineering calculations and ensure compliance with relevant codes.
- Develop and review engineering documents according to industry, project, company, and client standards.
- Effectively collect field notes from client sites and consider the impacts of design changes on the overall project.
- Communicate design change impacts to other departments.
Essential Skills
- Project management experience in engineering services, particularly in heavy industrial projects related to oil and gas, renewable energies, or pulp and paper.
- 8 years of combined experience as an experienced engineer and project manager on industrial projects.
- B.S. in Engineering (mechanical or chemical engineering preferred; open to civil or electrical).
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) is desired; willingness to work towards obtaining a PE if not currently held.
- Ability to travel approximately 10-25% of the time, primarily in the western United States.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Solid listening skills and ability to think creatively to meet client needs and budgets.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and lead a team with energy and enthusiasm.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop professional relationships with clients and team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), web meeting software (MS Teams, WebEx, Go-To Meeting), and PDF markup software (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in project development from concept through construction, including start-up and commissioning.
- Technical field and client job site experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar tools is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Navisworks Freedom is preferred.
Work Environment
This position offers a 100% remote work schedule with minimal travel required (10-25% travel, typically 2-3 days every couple of months). The company culture emphasizes hard work, fun, work/life balance, and a passion for client visions.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
PTO, Holiday pay (NY day, Memorial day, Independence day, Labor day, Thanksgiving and day after, Christmas Day, if holidays fall on a Saturday, company takes Friday, Sunday, Monday off). Medical coverage with company covering portion of premiums (benefits package on file, reach out for full coverage options). Dental, Vision, FSA options. 401K 50% match up to 6%. Bonus offerings depending on individual and company performance, can vary year to year on %.
9/80 schedule and salaried for first 40 hours and straight time for every hour worked over 40 hours. Paid for every 40 hours worked.
