Job Title: Medical Assistant - Breast Center

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to work in a breast center and oncology office with a medium volume of patients. This role involves supporting back-office functions and providing patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for in-office procedures such as biopsies and small incisions.
• Set up genetic testing for patients.
• Triage patient calls and manage intake buckets.
• Conduct patient intakes and load patient rooms.
• Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation.
• Prepare charts prior to patient visits and prepare patient rooms.
• Complete prior authorizations and review MRI reports.
• Restock rooms and supply closets, and complete inventory.
• Answer phone calls from physicians and patients, addressing any questions.
• Update patient records and electronic medical records using Athena.

Essential Skills

• Medical assisting experience.
• Patient care skills.
• CMA certification preferred (not required, but must have attended an accredited school for diploma).
• Minimum of 6 months of MA experience.
• Experience in women's health, OBGYN, or radiology preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records (preferably Athena).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CMA certification preferred, but not required.
• Experience in women's health, OBGYN, or radiology is a plus.
• Ability to handle emotionally taxing situations, especially with oncology patients.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours on Tuesdays starting at 7:30 AM and Wednesdays until 6:00 PM, rotating every other week with the nurse. The office environment includes a breast care center with 1 surgeon, 1 RN, 1 scheduler, and this Medical Assistant. The role involves working closely with the supervisor, who is currently covering as a nurse. The office maintains a timely schedule and allows flexibility for personal commitments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
