Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This position involves performing clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature under general supervision. The role requires the use of automated equipment and specialized processes for testing, interpreting results accurately, and identifying abnormal results. The work environment involves the use of hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, ASCP, chemistry bench, hematology bench, blood bank, and microbiology bench.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature under general supervision.
• Use automated equipment and specialized processes for testing, accurately interpret results, and identify abnormal results.
• Follow all laboratory established procedures and processes, including patient identification, specimen collection, diagnostic clinical testing, and documentation.
• Enter data into the laboratory information system and/or patient result logs based on training and protocol.
• Recognize, document, and communicate unusual and/or critical result values.
• Perform and monitor quality control processes, establish and monitor quality assurance, and maintain record-keeping systems.
• Participate in quality improvement programs according to standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and validity of test results.
• Perform calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on instrumentation according to standard operating procedures.
• Participate in the preparation and evaluation of maintenance schedules and operating procedures for new instrumentation, including writing technical procedures according to regulatory protocol.
• Perform troubleshooting processes for instrumentation, reagents, and inventory and/or patient samples as they occur, and evaluate methods for solutions.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Medical Laboratory Science.
• Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP).
• Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program.
• BLS certification.
• 6 months experience in a CLIA/COLA certified lab strongly preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
