Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology

Job Description

Perform clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Staff working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. Responsibilities include receiving specimens, performing clinical testing, understanding method principles, performing quality controls and instrument maintenance, and interpreting results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens for clinical testing.
• Perform clinical testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology.
• Understand principles of test methods and perform quality control procedures.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and ensure they are functioning properly.
• Interpret test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.
• Maintain patient confidentiality while performing tests.
• Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive team environment.

Essential Skills

• Experience in Microbiology.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience.
• Competence in laboratory procedures and medical testing.
• Certification by ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology).
• Ability to work under stress and make independent judgments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Work Environment

Work at a 255-bed inpatient facility and multiple practice locations, including four urgent care locations. This is a day shift position, Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 3:30 pm. The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $68000.00/yr.
