Mohs Medical Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Mohs Medical Assistant/Surgical Technologist to join our team. This role involves assisting in dermatological surgical procedures, specifically Mohs surgery, and providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical or surgical setting, particularly in dermatology or Mohs surgery.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and document all vital information.
- Scribe information for the dermatologist.
- Draw blood.
- Clean and stock exam rooms.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Take appropriate photographs of Mohs stages, label, and organize them.
- Handle specimens for pathology according to prescribed standards.
- Assist in procedure room maintenance, including case preparation, room turnover, and instrument processing.
- Prepare the patient prior to the procedure by obtaining and reconciling medical and surgical history, accurate list of medications, and allergies. Document appropriately in EMR.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, expectations, and post-operative instructions.
Essential Skills
- Experience in suture removal, dermatology, and patient vitals.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization practices.
- Experience with EHR and Practice Management System.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, LPN, CDT, or Surgical Technologist in a dermatology, Mohs surgery, or other surgical setting.
- Previous dermatology and skin care treatment experience preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
