Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician is the entry, developmental, and training level of the Pharmacy Technician Job Family. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will perform non-sterile compounding and central pharmacy operations, including preparing medication. You will provide home infusion pharmacy services, enteral therapy, and other specialized injectable therapies for pediatric patients and adults with childhood diseases such as cystic fibrosis and hemophilia. All duties must be performed in accordance with the hospital’s policies, procedures, Service Standards, and Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Inventory supplies by checking for shortages, rotating stock, and removing expired medications.
• Accurately prepare medications and other supplies for transport.
• Fill medication trays and ensure accuracy.
• Audit medications for accuracy.
• Answer phone calls from families and complete refill requests for supplies.
• Triage fax queue and fill prescriptions for pharmacist check.
• Float between IV Room and Delivery room.

Essential Skills

• Pharmacy technician certification.
• Data entry skills.
• Experience in a Home Pharmacy department.
• IV experience preferred.
• Sterile Compounding Experience is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Open to retail candidates with 6 months to 1 year of experience.
• Nice to have sterile IV compounding experience, even with less than a year of experience if they have compounding.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or as a Pharmacy Intern (PI) by the California Board of Pharmacy.

Work Environment

This role is in a Home Pharmacy, working within a team of 6 in the IV Room. You will work Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. This is a 5-6 month assignment with the possibility of extension, covering a long-term leave of absence. If converted, employees would be working in the delivery room. Technicians will audit 15-20 delivery tickets per day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00
