Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Phlebotomist II to join our outpatient team. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws and collect specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
