Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist - Paying up to $20/hr.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Responsibilities include:

Job Description:

• Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explaining the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understanding all physicians' orders.
• Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders.
• Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Packaging specimens for transport.
• Storing specimen samples according to required temperatures, placing samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labeling, and following specific procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.
• Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attending annual department trainings.
• Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed (as required in some states).
• Minimum of 12 months' work experience performing venipunctures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Geriatric experience preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
