Job Title: Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture blood drawing and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to the required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labeling and following different procedures as outlined by the specific protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification in any state
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years of experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record (if applicable).
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday (8am to 4:30pm)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
