Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood sampling and specimen collection with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and excellent patient service skills to provide a positive experience for all patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood sampling in accordance with established protocols.
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately while adhering to laboratory techniques and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and provide reassurance during blood draws.
- Document all specimen collections accurately in the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Collaborate with clinical laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to laboratory procedures.
- Stay updated on best practices in phlebotomy techniques, medical terminology, and physiology knowledge.
Requirements
- Proven experience as phlebotomist is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of blood sampling techniques, including venipuncture and specimen collection processing.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols diligently while maintaining high standards of quality control.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in phlebotomy or relevant training is highly desirable.
